Worship/Music Ministry

"O, Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you, I will give thanks to Your name; for You have worked wonders, plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness." (Isaiah 25:1)

Worship is a primary function at Pleasant Ridge.  Our mission, in part, is "to exalt Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord," and so we place a heavy emphasis on our acts of corporate praise and adoration.

We believe that praise is a universal language and as such cannot be defined in terms of genre, style, or other cultural labels.  We recognize that in order to be a multi-cultural and multi-generational congregation, we must be willing to utilize the various cultural styles, or "languages of worship," present in the community we serve.  Our worship services are blended in style.  We treasure the classic hymns and songs of the faith and also enjoy worshipping through the contemporary expressions of praise being written today.

We believe that God equips all His children with gifts to praise Him.  Often people have the gift of singing, but He also gives people the desire and ability to play any number of musical instruments.  For this reason, we utilize the traditional piano and organ, but we also add keyboards, guitars, bass, harmonica and percussion when available.  We also invite any who have a skill on any other instrument to step forward and allow themselves to be used of God in worship: trumpet, flute, saxophone, ukulele, etc.  All can be used to honor the Lord.

We also believe that God gifts His children for worship by non-musical means.  Those who are gifted to speak ASL are welcome to share in worship by signing a song or even a whole service.  Visual arts have been used for millennia to depict the glory of God, and it is no different today -- Pleasant Ridge welcomes anyone with a gift to share it with the Body as a means of exalting Christ.
